Glosso is an Android app that teaches English pronunciation by listening to you speak and giving a verdict on every sound, not just on whether you picked the right words.

A speech model trained on many accents turns your recording into the sequence of phonemes it heard. That sequence is aligned against the reference pronunciation of the exact sentence, sound by sound, and the differences are turned into a score and a list of named problems, for example "you said /t/ where the word needs /θ/".

In normal practice, no. The model runs on your phone and the audio stays there. When cloud scoring is used, for example during a Pro trial, the recording is sent over HTTPS only to produce the score and is discarded as soon as the request finishes. It is never stored, sold or used to train models. See the privacy policy.

It gives you an honest estimate, not a verdict. The score measures how closely your sounds matched the reference for that sentence, and it is good at flagging real pronunciation problems. But it is an estimate, not a certificate, an exam result or a "sounds like a native" test. A top score is not automatic: even our own reference recordings average around 89 out of 100.

No. Glosso is in alpha, distributed through Google Play's closed testing while it is polished. The pronunciation engine and the first A1 unit are the finished part today; A2 to B2 and French are still being built. Expect rough edges, and expect some numbers and screens to change before a public release.

No. The course structure is aligned with the CEFR framework, so levels run from A1 to B2 and each level is organised by what you should be able to do. A score inside the app is feedback for your learning, not an official assessment and not a qualification.

It tells you so. If the recording has no usable speech, is too noisy or too quiet, Glosso says the attempt could not be evaluated instead of showing a low score. We never turn a listening problem into a 0/100.

The first A1 unit is free forever and includes pronunciation scoring, per-phoneme feedback and corrections. Pro unlocks every level from A1 to B2 as it is released, practice built from your own errors, the phoneme profile with trends, and offline downloads. Every new learner gets one month of Pro at no cost.

Prices are set and shown by Google Play on the store listing, and the subscription is managed entirely there. You can cancel at any time in the Play Store under Subscriptions; cancelling stops the next renewal. Renewals, refunds and taxes follow Google Play's rules.

English today, taught against a British reference accent. French is the next language in preparation. The engine is built so a new language is data plus a pack, so more can follow without a rewrite.

Practice and scoring run on the device, so the core loop works without a connection. With Pro you can download the course for offline use. Features that fetch new content or use cloud scoring need a connection from time to time.

No. There is no mandatory account and no sign-up wall. Progress is kept on your device, and the app identifies your installation with a random, resettable id rather than a hardware identifier.

Android 8.0 or newer, with a microphone (built into every phone). Glosso is Android-first; an iOS version is not available today.

This website uses self-hosted, cookieless analytics and sets no tracking cookies. The app sends a small number of anonymous, first-party product events to our own server and does not store your IP alongside them. No advertising SDKs, no third-party trackers, no location, contacts or messages. Details in the privacy policy.

Not yet. Glosso is distributed through Google Play as an Android app. This site has a small preview of the pronunciation feedback, but the full experience lives in the app.
